I am often asked, “Why do you write for kids?” One of the big reasons I do is because I get letters like this:

I’m a 10yr girl in TN! I’ve read one your fascinating books. I read The Good Dog! I loved that book! I’ve read it 5 times. My face has sunk into the book! I’ve tried to write you for 3 yrs! Now I finally have the time to. Ever sense I saw the I’ve wanted something amazing to happen to the book! Plz write me back if you want to hear. If you don’t then it’s ok, but still try to write me back! I’ve ready many books but nothing has come close to this one. I also have a couple of questions for you. 1. How old ru? 2. What is yr fav. book you’ve written? 3 and finally, being a famous writer & all, what do you do to get away from all that?

OMG!!!!! In school, we are doing an Avi Author study I thought it was going to be super boring but it was amazingly fun! My teacher Mrs. Triutt is awesome. I read Seer of Shadows and it was amazing. I loved the ending, Please write back 🙂 ! I admire your writing.
