Could I, I once asked myself, write a book that was both funny and sad at the same time? I wondered about that for a long time, until I came up with a story which I thought allowed me to do just that. In this story just when you are laughing, you just might say to yourself, "Wait a minute! This is sad!." And when you find a part that is sad, I think you'll stop and say, "Hey, wait, this is really funny!" I admit it does make readers puzzle a bit.

As for the back ground, when in college I was part of a traveling theater company. We were not very good, though we took ourselves very seriously. Actually, it was pretty funny.
