Who Was That Masked Man, Anyway?

When I was a boy. growing up in the 1940's, I listened every week day to the radio adventures which were written for kids. How I loved them! Superman. The Lone Ranger. Captain Midnight. Sky King. The Green Hornet. Jack Armstrong, and many, many more. I did not just love them, I lived them. In fact, I think they greatly influenced my sense of story and drama. While this book is not, of course, true, Frankie is very much the boy I would have liked to have been--when a boy.
It is a curious book in one way: It's all dialogue. One hundred percent. Just like a radio story. And, I think, my funniest book.
